Queen Emma's Summer Palace is a secluded mountain retreat that was once of the home of Queen Emma and her husband, King Kamehameha IV. This beautiful home is hidden in a shady corner of Nu‘uanu Valley, and the architecture is designed to stay cool during Hawaii's hottest summer months. While you're visiting the palace, you'll learn about the important cultural contributions of the royal family against a backdrop of authentic 19th-century furniture and interior design.
Visitors are admitted to Queen Emma's Summer Palace between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm throughout the week. On Sundays, the museum's hours are 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Palace admission is surprisingly affordable; once you're inside, catch one of the free guided tours that take place throughout the day.
