Samuel M. Spencer Beach Park is a favorite family park with an inviting beach that boasts a very gentle slope, making for great swimming conditions and making this Big Island beach popular with locals and children alike. Being protected by both an offshore reef and breakwater wall for Kawaihae Harbor ensures calm waters almost at all times.
This beach offers soft sand and plenty of trees for shade. Though water clarity may sometimes be murky due to Kawaihae harbor being located nearby, that should not stop anyone from enjoying a delightful swimming experience here! There is even a lifeguard tower nearby although unfortunately not always present!
