The Sewing Hui offers volunteer opportunities for visitors to Maui. We invite visitors and locals to our "Talk Story, Sew, & Feast", a project in collaboration with Maui Makers, Inc. and the Hawai'i Tourism Authority's community enrichment program. You can directly contribute to the Maui Community while experiencing a culturally rich experience as a volunteer.
The Sewing Hui works on many initiatives to address the current needs of the community. We offer a variety of tasks that do not require sewing skills during our volunteer sessions. Regardless of whether you are a sewing expert, you can still contribute time and effort to help create meaningful projects that benefit the Maui community.
During the sessions, you'll have the chance to meet local residents who volunteer regularly with us. Talk story is a Hawaiian tradition that involves sharing stories and experiences. This interaction will allow you to gain a deeper understanding of the culture on the island and create connections with locals.
We provide a delicious meal as a token of appreciation for all volunteers. This meal together fosters camaraderie, and facilitates meaningful conversation with other volunteers and locals.
The Sewing Hui offers a unique volunteer experience that includes cultural immersion, giving back and making meaningful connections. Join us to make a positive contribution on Maui, and you will leave the island with lasting memories.
